This Course explores topices required by Pennsylvania Law as implemented by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and provides you with the knowledge to manage your pain patients  --no matter your specialty.  Earn up to 6.75 CME/CEU (full Accreditation Info below)

Why is Course Content of This Workshop Mandatory?   

As part of a licensee's ongoing  biennial review, the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine requires two (2) hours of continuing education in pain management, identification of addiction or the practices of prescribing or dispensing opioids as a portion of your total 100 hour continuing educaiton requirement.  [35 PA.C.S. P.L. 2911, No. 191, Section 9.1(a)(2)]

In addition, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2017, Individuals applying for an initial license or certification issued by the licensing board, which license or certification authorizes the licensee or certificate holder to be a dispenser or prescriber, to submit, no later than 12 months after obtaining an initial license or certification, documentation acceptable to the licensing board of the completion of at least two (2) hours of education in pain management or identification of addiction and at least two (2) hours of education in the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids. [35 PA.C.S. P.L. 2911, No. 191, Section 9.1(a)(1)]

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the end of this program, participants should be able to:

1.         Employ key diagnostic and treatment techniques for the management of pain.

2.         Identify and administer appropriate safe opioid usage in patients.

3.         Understand and identify opioid-sparing treatment options for pain patients.

4.         Understand and respond to opioid abuse, misuse and additction.

5.         Apply evidenced based strategies to clinical practice for managing 

            pain patients.

ACCREDITATION

Satisfactory completion 

Learners must complete an evaluation to receive a certificate of completion.  Your chosen sessions must be attended in their entirety.  Partial credit of individual sessions is not available. If you are seeking continuing education credit for a specialty not listed below, it is your responsibility to contact your licensing/certification board to determine course eligibility for your board requirement.  

 

Physicians, Nurses and Pharmacists

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Amedco LLC and the Pennsylvania Pain Society.  Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Credit Designation Statement – Amedco LLC designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM for physicians and 6.75 contact hours for nurses and 6.75 knowledge-based contact hours for pharmacists. Learners should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
